The melancholic track hints at a plaintive acceptance, or perhaps resignation, of past crimes, with Jaeggi’s intimate voice floating above Wright’s sparse electro-acoustic production. The duo asked Jaeggi’s mother to record the spoken word bridge in Japanese, reinforcing the song’s theme and contributing to the film-like quality of the soulful track. Killer is a libra, a mercenary with mixed feelings, the god of death, a pair of scales, a raven’s gaze, the samurai blade, a dark veil and a gentle whisper for redemption.
